Monitor regions for ping monitors
StatusGator runs ping checks from multiple global regions to give you accurate insights into uptime and latency. This helps you detect regional connectivity issues and understand performance differences across locations.
Open the monitoring region settings
- Go to Monitors in the left menu.
- Find the ping monitor you want to adjust.
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) and select Configure.
- Open the Settings tab.
- Under Basic, locate Check locations.
How monitoring regions work
- Choose specific global regions to send ping checks from.
- If all selected regions report downtime, the monitor is marked Down.
- If some regions fail but others succeed, you can decide alert behavior:
- Alert if ALL locations are down – Only alert for widespread outages.
- Alert if ANY location is down – Alert for regional or partial outages.
Best practices
- Select at least two regions to detect regional issues more accurately.
- Use “ALL locations down” mode for global services.
- Use “ANY location down” mode when regional availability matters (e.g., EU vs US customers).
