Status page privacy options

You can control who can access your status page from the Privacy tab in the Status Page settings. These options allow you to make your page public, restrict access to authorized users, or disable it entirely.

How to configure privacy settings

  1. Go to Status Page in the left navigation.
  2. Open the Privacy tab.
  3. Select the desired access option.
  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

Access settings

There are three main access modes for a status page.

Public

Your status page is accessible to anyone with the link.

This option is typically used for customer facing status pages where you want to share service availability and incident updates publicly.

No login or password is required to view the page.

Private

Private status pages restrict access to authorized users. You can secure a private status page using either password protection or authentication.

Simple password protection

Visitors must enter a shared password before they can view the status page.

This option works well when:

  • Access is limited to a small internal team
  • You want a simple way to restrict visibility
  • You do not need user level authentication

Authentication (Enterprise)

Authentication requires visitors to verify their identity before accessing the status page.

Authentication is available on the Enterprise plan and supports the following methods.

Email login

Visitors must verify their email address before they can access the status page.

  1. The visitor enters their email address.

  2. StatusGator sends a verification email.

  3. The visitor clicks the link in the email to authenticate.

  4. After verification, they are granted access to the status page.

You can restrict access by specifying allowed email domains. Example: company.com, partner.com

Only users with email addresses from the listed domains will be able to authenticate.

After users authenticate, their email addresses appear in the authenticated emails list in your StatusGator account. This list is visible in the Privacy settings below the domain field.

SAML single sign on (SSO)

Users authenticate through your organization's SAML identity provider.

This allows organizations to enforce centralized authentication policies using identity providers such as:

  • Okta
  • Azure
  • Google
  • Other providers

Disabled

When a status page is disabled it is not accessible to visitors.

You can still preview the page from the Status Page settings while configuring or editing it.
