Can I create an incident for my service monitor?
Currently, StatusGator does not support creating incidents for service monitors (e.g., status pages for AWS, Google Cloud, or any third-party provider) or website and ping monitors. Incident creation is only available for custom monitors under your control.
Why it matters
- Service monitors reflect updates from external providers and are not manually controlled by you.
- Custom monitors, on the other hand, are ideal for systems you manage yourself—like internal tools, your own app, or product components. These support manual incident creation to notify your users directly.
What you can do instead
- Use custom monitors for parts of your infrastructure or product that require manual status control and visibility to users.
- As a workaround, try the service override feature to manually adjust a service monitor's status when needed. This allows you to reflect accurate statuses even if the provider hasn’t updated theirs yet.
- If you need support for incidents on other monitor types, consider adding your support to the feature on our roadmap.
