Add a service monitor

A service monitor tracks the official status page of a third-party provider and updates in real time when incidents, maintenance, or status changes are posted.

StatusGator collects this information, normalizes it into our standard status levels (Up, Warn, Down, Maint), and displays it on your board and status page.

1. Open the Service directory

Go to Monitors and click Add Monitor > Service Monitor.

From the Service directory, you can:

  • Browse over 9,700 monitored services.
  • Search for a service by name.
  • Filter services by Use case, Category, and other criteria.
  • Use Bulk import to add multiple service monitors from a CSV, Excel, or text file.

Bulk Import automatically matches your service names to supported StatusGator services, making it easy to migrate from spreadsheets or another monitoring tool.

2. Add the monitor

Click Add next to the service you want to monitor.

If your board contains monitor groups, you'll be prompted to choose which group the monitor should be added to. Selecting a group keeps your monitors organized from the moment they're created.

After the monitor is added:

  • An On your board badge appears on the service card, indicating the service is already being monitored on the current board.
  • If you use Bulk import, you'll see a confirmation message showing how many monitors were successfully imported.

Tip: Assigning monitors to a group as you add them helps keep your board organized from the start.

What happens next

  • StatusGator will check the provider’s official status page at regular intervals.
  • Any changes (including Early Warning Signals) will be reflected on your board and status page.
  • If you have notifications enabled, you’ll receive alerts via your chosen channels.
