Early Warning Signals
Early Warning Signals are alerts generated when StatusGator detects unusual activity that may indicate an outage—often minutes or even hours before the affected provider officially reports it. These signals help you and your team prepare for possible incidents sooner.
Where Early Warning Signals are supported
Early Warning Signals are enabled by default and are delivered through:
- All chat integrations (Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Webex, Discord)
- Email notifications (automatically included with your account)
- SMS notifications (if available in your plan)
What’s included in an EWS message
Each Early Warning Signal notification includes:
- A Possible outage headline with the affected service name
- The Possible incident summary (e.g., service outage, login issues)
- A direct link to the official status page (if available)
- A quick-poll action asking your team: “Are you experiencing any issues?” with Yes/No options to gather feedback
How Early Warning Signals appears
- On your board — services with possible issues are marked with a Warn badge, just like regular provider-reported warnings.
- On your status page — visitors also see the service marked as Warn, clearly showing that there may be a problem even if the provider hasn’t yet updated their official page.
This ensures both your internal team and your status page audience are aware of potential disruptions right away.
