Limiting Notifications to Severe Incidents

StatusGator normalizes incident details published to vendor status pages into one of three statuses:

  • Down incidents (Major Incidents)
These are typically labeled as Outage, or Downtime, or Major Incident on a status page. Often they are colored in red, though styles vary from page to page.
  • Warn incidents (Minor Incidents)
These are typically labeled as Partial Outage, Degraded Service, or Minor Incident on a status page. Typically they are colored yellow or orange. Some status pages offer Informational messages which we usually categorize into Warn incidents.
  • Maintenance incidents (Maintenance/Informational Incidents)
Most commonly used for pre-scheduled maintenance that has low impact on end users.

To limit your notifications to only those incidents categorizes as Down (Major Incidents), do the following actions:

1. Click on 3 dots next to the needed service and click on Configure:

2. Choose the Notifications tab and check off "Major Incidents", then hit Save:

Note that there are some services that do not distinguish between event types and we typically categorize all of those incidents as Warn, since we are unable to further segment them. In these cases, the configuration page in StatusGator will prevent you from choosing the Down filter option.

Some service providers may send notifications about "Upcoming maintenance", so you can opt in to receive these types of alerts:
