Hosting your status page on a custom domain
You can host your status page either on StatusGator's default domain (statusgator.app
) or on your own custom domain. For branding and flexibility, we recommend hosting on your custom domain. Setting this up is straightforward if you have access to your domain's DNS configuration.
Steps to configure a custom domain:
1. Open the board and click Status Page in the left-panel menu. This will take you to the General tab.
2. Scroll down to the Domain section and select the Custom Domain option.
3. Specify the hostname you want to use for your status page (e.g., status.yourdomain.com
).
4. Click the Save button to save your changes.
5. Configure a CNAME record in your DNS settings to point to the randomly generated hostname provided in the Domain configuration section. This hostname is permanent and can always be used to access your status page, even if DNS misconfigurations occur.
Important notes:
SSL/TLS Certificates: StatusGator uses Let's Encrypt to issue SSL/TLS certificates. To ensure successful verification and certificate issuance, your DNS servers must respond to queries globally. Any geographic limitations on DNS traffic may result in SSL certificate creation failures.
By hosting your status page on a custom domain, you’ll achieve better branding and seamless integration with your existing web presence.
