Hosting Your Status Page on a Custom Domain

You can host your status page on either your own custom domain or on StatusGator's domain, statusgator.app. We recommend hosting on your own custom domain. It's easy to get going if you have access to your domain's DNS configuration.

To do this, you should edit your board configuration:

1. Open the board and click on Status Page in the left-panel menu. You will be taken to the Customize tab

2. Scroll down and select the custom domain option in the Domain section. Here, you can specify the hostname you want to use:

3. Click Save to save changes and proceed to configure the CNAME record in your DNS. The CNAME value provided in the Domain configuration section is your permanent, randomly-generated status page host name and can always be used to access your status page should your DNS be misconfigured.

Note: SSL/ TLS certificates are issued by the Let's Encrypt certification authority.  The verification checks performed by Let's Encrypt require that the DNS servers for your custom domain answer to queries globally.  Geographic limitations of DNS traffic will cause SSL certificate creation to fail.
