User-Agent header for your website monitor

The User-Agent (UA) string is contained in the HTTP headers and is intended to identify devices requesting online content. The User-Agent tells the server what the visiting device is (among many other things) and this information can be used to determine what content to return. Of course, this requires using a device detection solution which translates UAs into understandable software and hardware information.

Every device type, including phones, tablets, desktops, may come with its own UA that makes it possible to detect this device for any purpose. Interestingly bots and crawlers also come with their unique UAs.

To add a UA string to your user-agent header for website monitoring on StatusGator, follow the next steps:

1. Click on three dots next to your website monitor to configure it.

2. Switch over to the Settings tab and scroll all the way down.

3. In the HTTP Headers section, input the header name (can be User-Agent in this case) and the header value (can be Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 13; SM-S901B) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/112.0.0.0 Mobile Safari/537.36, which is going to identify your requests as if they were coming from a Samsung Galaxy S22 5G phone).

4. Once done, hit Save, that's it.

Here are some examples of user agents from different devices:

Windows 7-based PC using a Chrome browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/47.0.2526.111 Safari/537.36
