Enabling dark mode on status pages

StatusGator provides various customization options to tailor the appearance of your status page to your preferences. By default, all StatusGator status pages support a dark mode version automatically, using the System setting. This means the light or dark mode is chosen based on the end-user's personal browser preferences.

Enabling a default dark mode:

If you'd like to set a specific default mode for your status page:

  1. Navigate to your status page and go to the Design tab.
  2. Scroll down to the Default theme section.
  3. Select the desired default mode (e.g., Dark theme) for your page.
  4. Save your changes.

Note: This setting only determines the default mode for new visitors. Visitors can still toggle between light and dark modes using the switch at the top of the page.

Tips for the dark theme:

1. Uploading a logo for dark mode:

To ensure your logo looks great on both light and dark backgrounds, you can upload a separate logo specifically for dark mode. This option is available in the Design tab under the Logo section.

2. Advanced appearance customization:

If you have customized the Primary and Secondary colors in the Advanced section:

  • Make sure your status page looks good on both light and dark themes.
  • Pay special attention to contrast to ensure readability and accessibility for all users.

By verifying the appearance on both themes, you can provide a seamless experience regardless of the visitor’s preference.
